Project 90 - Travelling Fellowships

Expand your horizons with the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø’s new Travelling Fellowship Programme. Connect, learn and be inspired by peers across national and international gastroenterology and hepatology centres, whatever your professional role, fostering new perspectives that enrich both patient care and your own professional development. Open to all ÌÇÐĹÙÍø members, regardless of clinical background or experience, fellows are expected to focus their visit on a specific aspect of practice, with clear learning or knowledge-sharing goals. Typically lastly 1-2 weeks, the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø will match applicants with host centres for the best possible experience.  Members should read the application handbook for full application criteria prior to applying.

Dr Mo Thoufeeq
Mo Thoufeeq is a consultant gastroenterologist with an interest in GI endoscopy in Sheffield, United Kingdom. He has been a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø enthusiast since his time as a registrar having held several positions in the organisation. He sits on the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø executive team currently being the chair of the international committee. During this time, he has led the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø’s international strategy. He is a strong believer in advanced training and fellowship having himself benefitted from an advanced endoscopy fellowship in Leeds under Bjorn Rembacken. He is a Bowel cancer screening programme (BSCP) accredited colonoscopist and a faculty of Sheffield endoscopy training centre.  He has been offering a fellowship programme in lower GI complex polypectomy in Sheffield over the last 10 years. He is the endoscopy clinical lead for South Yorkshire’s integrated care systems. Besides these he has hosted over 15 junior doctors over the last few years on short observed positions. He is very keen on training being a member of standard setting group of European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESEGH). He leads ÌÇÐĹÙÍø’s EQIP project on upper GI bleeding courses.

The ÌÇÐĹÙÍø will celebrate its 90th birthday in 2027. The ÌÇÐĹÙÍø plans to celebrate the profession and the membership by providing enhanced membership benefits in the run-up to this birthday with an overarching aim of allowing members to discover or re-discover their passion for the profession and specialty. With Dr Beverly Oates as overall Clinical Lead, we have created five workstreams, designed for multi-disciplinary access.
